June 8, 2019 Happy final week! Your cadets will be returning home very soon. This week everyday has a 1000 start time which is very enjoyable for the students, since they will be able to sleep in a little longer. However, the students must meet every morning at 0920 to make the bus. Once July 1st came, the buses shifted into a summer schedule where the buses came about every half hour, instead of every fifteen minutes, meaning students have to be out earlier so they do not miss the bus. (Wohoo for time management skills!) Today Milad Armin, a lecturer from Liverpool John Moores University presented to the group "From Planktons to Heavy Residual Fuel Oil". Armin started off by teaching the carbon cycle in the oceans. The students learned about sedimentary basins, the complex mixture of crude oil, the refinery process, HFO contamination, and fuel testing.
