June 8, 2019    Happy final week! Your cadets will be returning home very soon. This week everyday has a 1000 start time which is very enjoyable for the students, since they will be able to sleep in a little longer. However, the students must meet every morning at 0920 to make the bus. Once July 1st came, the buses shifted into a summer schedule where the buses came about every half hour, instead of every fifteen minutes, meaning students have to be out earlier so they do not miss the bus. (Wohoo for time management skills!)       Today Milad Armin, a lecturer from Liverpool John Moores University presented to the group "From Planktons to Heavy Residual Fuel Oil". Armin started off by teaching the carbon cycle in the oceans. Day 1 of Norway

Day 1: June 24, 2019             This afternoon we arrived at Logan Airport at 1430 for our flight at 1730. We waited anxiously during the three hours dreaming of our exciting three weeks to come. All twelve of us boarded the plane, and for many students this was their first time flying internationally. The airbus held 440 passengers, in a 2-4-2 seating set up.             Two hours into the flight everybody received their dinner. The dinner consisted of bread rolls, salad, meat, rice and a dessert. Not bad for plane food! Just as we all started to doze off, we woke up to the flight attendants serving breakfast. Breakfast? We were all confused why breakfast was being served four hours after dinner and at 2100! However, at this time we had crossed international waters and European time was 0500.           ...

Day 2: June 25, 2019             Today the students visited the Shipowner’s Association in Oslo. Throughout the duration of the day the students listened to nine very experienced speakers in the Maritime Industry. A plethora of the information that the students received was new information about the specialized field. To begin the day, we got a brief background of the history of the Oslo’s chapter of the Norwegian Shipowner’s Association. The topics discussed during the first half of the day included Maritime Economics and the Norwegian Maritime Cluster – an innovation driven journey through structural changes (from Erik Jakobsen, Menon Economics AS), and the global climate challenge reaching the IMO 2050 target.              After the three hours of presentations we got a break for lunch.
